Four Things To Do in Downtown Barrie THIS Weekend
Here at Gel Creative, it’s not all just graphic design, branding, content writing, social media strategy and web design. Sometimes, we actually go out and do other things. We also happen to be pretty big fans of Downtown Barrie. If you are looking for something fun to do this weekend, we highly suggest checking out these four fun things you can do in the Downtown.
1. Follow the Hot Cocoa Trail
Happening February 6th and 7th at various locations, the Hot Cocoa Trail allows you to explore the many awesome cafés and coffee shops nestled in the downtown core. Try a Mexican Spicy Mocha at Lazy Tulip Café , a Matcha White Hot Cocoa at Unity Café or a Red Velvet Hot Cocoa Topped with Whipped Cream Cheese at J’Adore Fine Cheese and Chocolate and decide which one is your favourite. We think it might be a tough choice to make. For more information, check out the Downtown Barrie website or search social media using the hashtag #hotcocoatrail .
2. Get Your Winterfest On
Not only can you follow the Hot Cocoa Trail this weekend, you can also enjoy the City of Barrie’s Winterfest. This family-friendly, mid-winter festival boasts Lumber Jacks, Maple Taffy, Kites on Ice and much more. For more information, check out the City of Barrie website .
3. Grab a Grilled Cheese or a Pint …..or both!
We have so many favourite cool places to visit downtown, but two of our very favourite spots are the Grilled Cheese Social Eatery and The Local Gastropub. With a warm and cozy atmosphere, friendly staff and multiple craft beers on tap, we love grabbing a pint and a bite to eat at The Local and have been known to be found here quite often on a Friday afternoon. Did we mention they also have Jenga?
We also love grabbing one of the delicious gourmet grilled cheese sandwiches and feeling the love at the Grilled Cheese Social Eatery. We’re pretty sure Randy likely has a Jenga game hiding somewhere in there as well. Can’t decide which to pick? Visit both!
4. Grab a Book and Cozy Up
Books and cold winter days are just meant to go together. Visit the Barrie Public Library and grab a new novel to dive into. You may also want to explore the vast selection of books at Bell, Book and Candle that cover a range of interesting topics including Yoga, Natural Health and the New Age.
Remember, these are just some of our recommendations. We’d love to hear how you plan to spend the weekend enjoying the sights and sounds of Downtown Barrie. Share your plans with us using the hashtag #WeekendPlans #BarrieUnexpected
